HWL has several committees dedicated to promoting membership growth, equal opportunities, and to improving the lives and careers of women in the legal profession.
CommunicationsThe Communications Committee consists of four subcommittees:
Membership This committee maintains a database of members for communication purposes and provides support for events to promote membership growth. Newsletter This committee designs and distributes a quarterly newsletter to members. Website This committee designs and maintains the HWL website for membership communication and support. Publicity This committee sends current information on programs, events, and other matters of interest to members and other supporters. The committee also drafts and distributes press releases regarding HWL events of interest. |

Mentoring This committee organizes events that provide opportunities for experienced attorneys and judges to meet with less experienced attorneys, develop relationships, and provide guidance and mentorship. Education This committee organizes events that provide education and resources to support members in their professional and personal lives. Networking This committee organizes events that provide opportunities for all members to meet and get to know each other. Through these events we hope to develop a network of women in the profession to support and promote each other. |
ProjectsThe Projects Committee consists of five subcommittees:
Community Service This committee organizes support for community projects developed by HWL, or by other organizations such as Helping Hands Hawaii’s Ready to Learn Program, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, and/or the YWCA. Legislative This committee monitors legislation at the State level that may impact the lives of women and families, and provides testimony relating to such legislation. Gender Equity This committee provides education and informational workshops that promote social justice and equality. Judicial Equity This committee provides support to qualified women seeking judicial appointments or those who may want to do so in the future. History This committee is involved in compiling and documenting the history of Hawaii Women Lawyers and women in the legal profession in Hawaii. |
